A Midsummer Night in Shakespeare’s Backyard
Yes, OK, that’s a bit of cheeky poetic licence. It wasn’t actually Midsummer’s eve. That would have been even cooler! Imagine hosting your event in Shakespeare’s backyard. Yes, the actual William Shakespeare, the ‘Bard of Avon’. The house where he was born and spent his childhood, over 450 years ago. Photographing events, I’ve been lucky enough to work in some pretty cool venues. This is definitely high on the list.
Guests were treated to a special, VIP, after-hours experience, hosted by innovative, local events company, Warwick Events. With a red carpet entrance to the reception in the beautiful gardens, where they were served cocktails and mocktails inspired by the bard. ‘Bardtanicals’. Do you see what they did there?
Followed by a guided tour of Shakespeare’s Birthplace to see inside this world famous cottage, recreated as it may have been in the 16th & 17th Centuries. Then back to the gardens, time to relax with cocktails and nibbles, and enjoy performances from the resident players, Shakespeare Aloud. As experiences go this is pretty unique.
Below the pictures, you’ll find a link to a beautifully written article by journalist, Jeanette Parkin, for her brilliant StratfordBlog which includes more of the images.
