Kiwi Adventures – Day 3 & 4
Day 3 – Travelling from Omarama down into Central Otago towards Queenstown, we decided to cut across to Wanaka for a flying visit. A great little town, really rather trendy! (we didn’t know at the time that we would be visiting again a few days later, but more about that on Day 6!)
Queenstown in the distance on the edge of Lake Wakatipu. Referred to as the Adventure Capital and the home of the original Bungee Jump! We were keen to get to Milford Sound the following day so pushed on towards Lake Te Anau.
DAY 4 – HEADING FOR MILFORD SOUND IN FIORDLAND.
On route we visited ‘The Mirror Lakes’ which were quite a small area of water viewed from a platform, creating very good reflections of the mountains behind. Interesting but not quite what I had imagined.
A few miles down the road we came across another lake that satisfied my dream of a vast mirror lake. It was so still and peaceful. We were the only people there with just an occasional fish jumping to catch the flies above the lake.
Milford Sound – one of the most visited tourist attraction in New Zealand – was an amazing experience so I’ve given that a blog all of it’s own…
